The Giants will use this alternate jersey during select road games this coming season. Official sources have not reported this and as such I cannot be positive but am at least 90% sure.
While the jersey is a nice tribute to the 1990's teams and admittedly good looking, I hate the idea. I hated the orange alternate uniform the Giants reintroduced in 2010 and I hate that the Giants have any alternate uniform at all.
They are one of the oldest and most historically rich teams in the league, and alternate uniforms only take away from the classical purity of baseball uniforms. There is a reason that the Yankees don't have and have never had alternate jerseys. They are tacky and do not demonstrate that a team is committed to its illustrious history and purist values that make the franchise special.
In 2009, the Giants were one of four teams in the league (the other two are the Dodgers and Tigers) without alternate uniforms. They were the only team besides the Yankees and Red Sox to follow tradition and not stamp a player's last name on the back of the Jersey. They introduced one alternate, and now, exponentially worse, they have two.
The Giants might as well rebrand themselves as the uniform-for-each-day-of-the-week Rockies or Astros. The Yankees built their legitimacy on tradition and history. They are wildly successful for it. It doesn't look like the Giants are interested in that anymore.
